Buildings Maintenance Worker: Saluda County is now accepting applications for Buildings Maintenance Worker effective July 2, 2022.  Duties include but are not limited to: Performs preventive and responsive maintenance on county buildings; Inspects buildings to determine maintenance and repair needs; Performs scheduled maintenance on county buildings; Performs janitorial services as needed; Participates in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building maintenance; Performs grounds maintenance duties; Completes work orders; Responds to after-hour emergencies as needed.  Reports to Public Building Superintendent.  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education; sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.  A detailed job description is available at the County Council office, 400 W. Equipment Operator: Saluda County is now accepting applications for Equipment Operator. Position is vacant effective March 28, 2022.  Duties include but are not limited to:  operates a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes; track hoes, front end loader, maintains assigned vehicles and equipment; performs pre and post-op vehicle inspections; transports materials and equipment to and from work sites; flags traffic and installs control devices at work sites; maintains and repairs drainage systems; maintains dirt and gravel roads; removes debris; responds to after-hour emergencies and other related duties. Reports to Roads and Bridges Superintendent.  Knowledge of the techniques, equipment and supplies used in road maintenance; knowledge of the county and departmental safety policies and procedures.  Knowledge of level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in field of work in addition to basic skills typically associated with high school education; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class A Commercial drivers license issued by the State of South Carolina.  A detailed job description is available at the County Council office, 400 W. Auditor Clerk: Saluda County is accepting applications for Auditor Clerk Effective April 1, 2022.  Duties include, but are not limited to:  Assess personal property taxes on vehicles, campers, motorcycles, and high mileages; Assist taxpayers at the window; resolves problems and receives applications for homestead and vehicle tax exemptions; Answer telephone and greets visitors; provide information and assistance; Assess, corrects, and codes monthly vehicle renewal sheets; issue Mobile Home Advances and Abating penalties; Review returned vehicle mail for incorrect addresses; prepare a variety of correspondence.  Applications along with resume and a ten-year driving record may be submitted to Memmus Forrest, Saluda County Auditor, Saluda County Courthouse, Saluda, S.C. or emailed to m.forrest@saludacounty.sc.gov  Position is open until filled. Roads and Bridges Superintendent: Saluda County is accepting applications for Roads and Bridges Superintendent. Duties include, but are not limited to:  Directs maintenance of county roads and bridges; plans, directs, manages and supervises department operations and personnel; prioritizes, schedules, assigns and monitors work and equipment for county public works maintenance projects; makes onsite inspections of work in progress; responds to citizen complaints, concerns and problems; obtains quotes for new purchases; responds to after-hour emergencies related to county-maintained roads; oversees mechanics in performing routine maintenance and repair of county-owned vehicles.  Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain such license. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field; three to five years of related work experience. Custodian: Saluda County is accepting applications for Custodian.  Duties include but are not limited to: empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans and sanitizes restrooms; restocks restroom supplies; cleans lobbies; sweeps, mops and vacuums floors; dusts and polishes furniture, blinds and window sills; sets up rooms for meetings; washes windows, walls and baseboards; maintains supply inventory; reports repair needs to appropriate personnel. Paramedic - Saluda County is accepting applications for a Paramedic Crew Chief position with Saluda County EMS.  Duties include but are not limited to responding to emergency calls and providing medical assistance to the sick and injured.  Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred experience in 911 emergency medical service. E-911 Emergency Dispatcher - Saluda County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for an E-911 Emergency Dispatcher. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Must pass a drug screening and background check. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts. Successful candidates will possess good communication and typing skills. If selected, candidates will be required to complete a two-week training course at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, as well as attain a 40 hour NCIC certification. Part-time Recycle Site Attendant: Saluda County is accepting applications for a Part-time Convenience Center Site Attendant.  The position includes working under regular supervision, monitors and screens all waste and recyclable materials delivered by residents to County Convenience Centers, ensures the public places materials in proper containers and monitors container volume, and maintains site appearance and safety. Performs related work as required. Reports to Solid Waste Coordinator.  Previous work-related skills, training, and experience will be taken into consideration for all applicants. Detention Officer - The Saluda County Detention Center is now accepting applications for a Class 2 Detention Officer position.  Qualifications include a clear criminal background and/or driver's history and High School Diploma or GED.  Applicant must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license.  Applications and a complete job description can be picked up at the Saluda County Detention Center at 205 E.
