Deputy Coroner: Saluda County is accepting applications for Deputy Coroner. Duties include, but are not limited to investigate deaths, including violent, suspicious, unexpected and unattended deaths to assist in determining cause and manner of death. The principal duties are performed often in the field where an employee may be exposed to health and environmental hazards. Investigates deaths such as violent, suspicious, unexpected and unattended deaths and death scenes to determine cause and manner. Responds to scenes, takes photographs, interviews witnesses, Interviews family of decedent, performs a preliminary examination of the body, obtains fingerprints, and takes statements and toxicological specimens at death scenes in order to maintain integrity of evidence. Identifies wounds, including entrances and exits, blunt trauma, sexual assaults, pattern injuries etc. Identifies the deceased in a timely manner through photographs, fingerprinting, dental records, medical records, DNA and through coordination with possible family members, the media, and missing person’s networks. Makes death notifications to the next of kin of decedents once positively identified. Inventories and logs into evidence personal effects, such as jewelry, cash or wallets recovered from decedents; Coordinates autopsies and communicates investigative findings with pathologists on cases where complexities exist to include providing: medical records, dental records, evidence, photographs, reports and others as indicated. Coordinates / completes the disposition of bodies and human remains, including certifying death certificates, giving authorization for cremations, and arranging for burial of unclaimed and unknown remains. Contacts and works with other agencies such as SLED, local law enforcement, first responders, toxicologists, forensic pathologists, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies in gathering information pertaining to a decedent. Develops reports of crimes, accidents, evidence, statements and the pathologist’s findings and provides information to proper law enforcement or other agency personnel. Reports to work as needed and required during hazardous weather or emergency conditions. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. Minimum qualifications:
Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Health Care, Psychology or related field or 1-2 years of experience in medical field, criminal justice field, death investigation field or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work as a death investigator; and Possession of a valid State Driver’s License indicating a clean DMV record, ability to be bonded and to pass a criminal background check and, Requires the ability to work for a death investigation office and, Requires the ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent and
Requires the sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

Part-time Probate Clerk: Saluda County is accepting applications part-time Probate Clerk. Duties include but not limited to: Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel; Researches assets and pulls deeds to verify property ownership; Evaluates and determines types of assets; Assists in processing estate documents; Maintains estate files; Indexes estates; Prepares final account and closing documents; Assists in processing guardian and conservator documents; Processes requests for disbursements; Refers calls to mental health providers; Issues marriage licenses and Collect monies for copies and other fees. Part-time Planner: Saluda County is accepting applications for part-time Planner. Duties include but are not limited to: planning, directing and supervising current and long-range planning programs for Saluda County, and to perform related professional, administrative work as required. The position researches and formulates long-range goals for the organization related to the development and implementation of land use plans and policies; Ensures the department’s compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations; Provides direct assistance and secretarial support to the Planning Commission. Develops, implements and revises as necessary the County’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Designs, prepares, modifies or improves all master and supplementary plans and reports. Assesses code text and enforcement procedures; prepares and revises county ordinances, policies, and regulations related to planning; Assists in implementing policies; Researches impact fees and other issues as requested; Coordinates department activities and functions with Western SC Economic Development Partnership, SafeBuilt, Upper Savannah Council of Government and other County departments, divisions, municipalities and outside agencies as requested by management. Must possess a valid SC driver’s license. Paramedic: Saluda County is accepting applications for a Paramedic Crew Chief position with Saluda County EMS. Duties include but are not limited to responding to emergency calls and providing medical assistance to the sick and injured. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred experience in 911 emergency medical service. Must attend SCEMS CEP/IST program and maintain EMT Paramedic, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, CPR certifications, and any other mandated courses Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. E-911 Emergency Dispatcher: Saluda County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for an E-911 Emergency Dispatcher. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Must pass a drug screening and background check. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts. Successful candidates will possess good communication and typing skills. If selected, candidates will be required to complete a two-week training course at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, as well as attain a 40 hour NCIC certification. Part-time Recycle Site Attendant: Saluda County is accepting applications for a Part-time Convenience Center Site Attendant. The position includes working under regular supervision, monitors and screens all waste and recyclable materials delivered by residents to County Convenience Centers, ensures the public places materials in proper containers and monitors container volume, and maintains site appearance and safety. Performs related work as required. Reports to Solid Waste Coordinator. Previous work-related skills, training, and experience will be taken into consideration for all applicants. Other requirements include a clear criminal background check and a current motor vehicle driving report. Detention Officer: The Saluda County Detention Center is now accepting applications for a Class 2 Detention Officer position. Part-time Animal Control: Saluda County is accepting applications for part time Animal Control. Duties include but are not limited to: Under general supervision, maintain equipment, facility and caring for animals until delivered to the Edgefield Shelter; assists officers enforcing laws and ordinances governing the care and keeping of domestic animals and livestock in an effort to maintain public safety and welfare. Work involves cleaning and upkeep of the facility, feeding, watering and assessing condition of intakes, picking up strays, injured animals, nuisance animals, etc.; setting traps for feral animals; assists in the investigation of cruelty cases; maintaining supplies, equipment, completing and maintaining record keeping and paperwork; communicating with the public on the telephone or in person.
