Saluda County Delinquent Tax Collector’s Office
The function of the Delinquent Tax Collector is to collect delinquent real and personal taxes, assessments, penalties, and cost; to notify taxpayers of delinquent taxes owed, and maintain an accurate, up-to-date account of monies collected. Once a property tax bill is deemed delinquent (March 17th of each year), the debt goes into execution and the County Treasurer forwards the bill to the Delinquent Tax Office for collection as explained in South Carolina Code of Laws 12-51-40.
This Department:
- sends out notices for past due taxes on real property, mobile homes, and business personal taxes
- collects and processes delinquent tax payments
- seizes property for non-payment, in accordance with SC Code of Laws, Title 12
- plans, conducts, and manages the yearly tax sale
- has title abstracting & mortgage research completed
- follows the duties listed in SC Code of Laws, Title 12
- issues tax deeds at the end of the redemption period each year
This Department does NOT:
- accept payments for non-delinquent tax notices (Treasurer’s office)
- accept payments for vehicle taxes, current nor late (Treasurer’s office)
- revise tax notices (Auditor’s office)
- determine values on real property (Assessor’s office)
- determine values on personal property (Auditor’s office)
- accept applications for legal residence (Assessor’s office)
- accept applications for Mobile Home registrations (Assessor’s office)
- abate taxes, penalties, and/or interest (Auditor’s office)
Saluda County has contracted with a third-party collection agency to collect delinquent taxes on Mobile Homes and Business Personal Property. American Financial Credit Services (AFCS) specializes in government debt recovery. Delinquent business personal property or mobile home taxes may be submitted to AFCS for collection. DELINQUENT PAYMENTS
All DELINQUENT LAND/HOME/MOBILE HOME/BPP payments will be taken at the Delinquent Tax Collector’s office located at 111 Law Range St., Saluda, SC 29138.
Payments will be accepted Mon-Fri from 8:30 am-4:30 pm by credit card, debit card, personal check, cash, or money order. All credit and debit card transactions are subject to a fee of 2.35% of the total. No personal checks accepted after October 1st. If you are redeeming a property, you must see the Delinquent Tax Collector and cannot just drop the payment in the box.
2023 and older Mobile Home and Business Personal tax notices can no longer be made at a county office. These must be paid through American Financial Credit Services.

2024 Delinquent Tax Sale

ADVERTISEMENT/PROPERTY LIST: The delinquent property list will be published in the “Twin City News,” and on this webpage for three weeks prior to the sale. There will also be an updated list posted only to this webpage on the Tuesday before the sale (November 5th).
BIDDER REGISTRATION: ***Please read carefully***
Bidders can register from Tuesday, October 1st until Friday, November 1st at the Saluda County Delinquent Tax Collector’s office (111 Law Range St, Saluda, SC 29138) between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm only. Bidder must provide Social Security card, valid driver’s license, and correct mailing information. If you are a company and have someone bidding on your behalf, we will need a completed W-9 with a statement of authorization from the bidder. You may also register via email to as.saxon@saludacounty.sc.gov during the same timeline listed above. Email the office and I will send the appropriate paper work for you to complete and get back to me before the deadline. If I don’t receive it before Friday, November 1st, you will not be allowed to participate in the tax sale.
**No one will be allowed to sign up to bid after the November 1st deadline.
**No bidders will be registered on the day of the sale!
TERMS: Bidder must be present to participate in tax sale. Any bid amount must be paid in CASH or CERTIFIED FUNDS by 4:30pm on the day of the sale, Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Tax Collector’s office. Bidder information (excluding Social Security number) is public knowledge when requested. If the successful bidder fails to pay by the 4:30pm deadline, a $500 penalty per bid will be applied. The Delinquent Tax Collector’s office will open to begin collecting the final bids, 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Tax Sale. Should the tax sale of the property have to be voided during the one-year redemption period, the successful bidder will be refunded the bid amount and the actual interest earned by the county per South Carolina Code of Laws Section 12-51-150.
